Unknowingly, I found 2 final instar caterpillars of this Dark Banded Ace on a fallen bamboo near a cemetery in the Western Catchment Area. Saved them and took home to raise before the contractors clear the bamboos away. Thought they were just mere skippers that I have shot before, I gave the pupa to my friends who might be interested in shooting skippers.
 
One elosed today and only to find out to my amazement, it is this gorgeous rare Dark Banded Ace!

Finally captured the Dark Banded Ace since my first record shot. Not just one but a pristine pair in USR this morning.  Thanks to Tim's alert, without which I would not have the opportunity to shoot this amazing pair!

Found a clump of more than 600 caterpillars on 12 December 2020 in Arcadia Road.

A week later (19 Dec 2020) 
Had to provide fresh leaves twice a day!
 

  Pupating stage about 2 weeks later

Finally many started to eclose on 31 December 2020
 

Released to various location including Jurong Eco Garden where the Australian Mulberry trees are available, with consent of Aster.
Many were seen perching on lower bushes near the Australian Mulberry trees after the release.
